Short Circuit is a new Program Of Animated Shorts: series of animated short films produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios filmmakers and artists. The films are independent shorts that are meant to “take risks in both visual style and story”. Similar to its sister series SparkShorts from Pixar, it is meant to showcase new talent from within the industry.
The company explains: “[A]nyone at Walt Disney Animation Studios can pitch an idea and potentially be selected to create an original short film with the support of the studio and their fellow artists. The goal of this innovative program is to take risks in both visual style and story, surface new voices at the studio, and experiment with new technical innovation.”
The director of the Program, Jennifer Newfield, will explain about it.
Two shorts will be presented at b’Ars by their directors and screened:
“Zenith,” directed by Jennifer Stratton, follows a luminous stag as it bounds through the universe, leaving a galaxy of stars in its wake. When it accidentally creates a black hole that threatens everything, the stag must make a decision that will leave a lasting impression.
“Fetch“, directed by Mitch Counsell, follows a child who wants to play fetch with her pet. Unfortunately, he’s wandered deep into an imposing forest.
