Ivan Moran

Ivan began his career in commercials and broadcast design before switching to feature film compositing, working on the likes of The Matrix Reloaded and the epic battle scenes of The Lord of the Rings. He joined Framestore in 2004, lending his skills to projects such as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and two Alfonso Cuarón titles – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men, where he was the Lead Compositor on the famous birth shot. As Compositing Supervisor, he developed the compositing tools for the underwater sequence in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Oscar-winning polar bears of The Golden Compass.

In 2009 Ivan relocated to NY to lead Framestore’s film division, working alongside the Coen Brothers, Ben Stiller, Phillip Noyce, Roger Michell, David Chase and Alfonso Cuarón. He later relocated to Framestore’s newly-established Montreal studio, working as VFX Supervisor on Dracula Untold, The Legend of Tarzan, Andy Serkis’ Mowgli and the BAFTA-nominated Arrival, where he helped director Denis Villeneuve create the film’s spellbinding finale. Now working from Framestore’s busy LA studio as Creative Director, Ivan’s most recent role has been as client-side VFX Supervisor for Netflix tentpole Project Power. This high-profile project saw him working closely with directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, bringing his experience, creativity and trademark flair to everything from character and VFX design, as well as an innovative application of the LED technology Framestore pioneered with Gravity.
